Shree Purvanchal Gyanchakshu Vidhyalaya
Shree Purwanchal Gyanchakshu Vidyalaya is the only special residential school located in ward No–15, Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City, Koshi province. This school was established on 2034, Push 14 (29th Dec, 1977) to implement the proclamation of “May not any children be deprived of the light of education.” It is a special school for blind and partially-sighted children. This school has the aim that all the visually-impaired as well as partially-sighted children could be able to learn basic skills and qualifications to live a happy, healthy and prestigious life when they complete their education from this school. Similarly, the objective of this school is to provide the appropriate academic opportunities with useful skills and arts for life. This school also has the objective to prepare blind students as capable citizens by developing their inherent talents for livelihood being aware of making contribution to the nation and attaining matured life with due respect in the society in future.
In total, 65 students are studying from ECD class to class 10 at this school now. There are enough materials for music and sport practices. It has become inevitable to provide appropriate and timely knowledge and skills for blind children to make them equipped with due knowledge and skills of technology, music, arts and other useful vocational skills for the proper subsistence of their life. In this context, I want to make you aware that this school has taken the possibility of being the resource school and research center for developing the infrastructures to receive knowledge, useful skills, vocational training and also skills of technology for their life.
This school has passed 44 years from the time of its establishment. We heartily accept donations, cooperations and likings of various associations, institutions, foreign donors and local people for the academic and physical development of this school because they are inevitable for the unshakeable establishment of its foundatition and growth. In the period of its establishment, there were only ten blind students to whom this school had provided academic opportunities with residential facilities. At present, this school is providing education for more than 65 students with basic facilities. We can see that the students from Kailali, Kanchanpur and remote areas of the Himalayan region also come to this school in quest of academic opportunities in the past. But currently, the number of students at this school has reached up to 65 only. It is perhaps due to the lack of proper publicity though we are in this age of technology and media.
Shree Purvanchal Gyanchakshu Vidhyalaya has not only transformed the lives of visually impaired students but has also contributed significantly to society by breaking barriers and promoting inclusivity. Its unwavering commitment to providing a quality education, empowering visually challenged individuals, and fostering a supportive community has made it a distinguished institution in the field of education for the visually impaired.
